Hi, I'm Harold and I am going to teach you the steps that make a story scary.
In the plot we talk about the step by step action of the story. The more events are detailed, the more suspence is found in the story.
Hey Bob, I didn't see you their. I was just explaining what a scary story is.
Maybe I can help. Did you explain the theme yet?
The theme is very important because in the theme, there is a kind of moral. It's what the reader should take away as a main idea.
Now, I will explain what the mood is.
The mood is the atmosphere that brings the literary work to avote a certain emotion or feeling from the audience. The mood can be created by a gloomy kind of music, dark language, and terrifying scenes.
Hey Bob your back, I was just about to explain what the dominant impression is.
I know what it is, I'll explain this one.
The dominant impression is the principle effect an author wishes to create for the audience. It can be written in a descriptive writing.
In a scary story, there will be a descriptive, powerful words of a place ,object or person in detail to give the reader a clear sense of what's happening in a scary story.
Thanks again Bob.
The setting is a important idea as well, but not as much as the theme which I explained earlier.
The setting gives a story a context. The setting is where the story takes place. Ex. An abandoned house somewhere in the woods with foggy images and sounds. Ex. screams, the creaking and squeking sound from the floor of the wooden house. The sound from the leafs crunching at night.
The last thing that makes a scary story are the characters.
Characters are the main and important part of the story because they influence every aspect of the story.
These are the parts that make a story scary.
