Today we will cover:
What is it?
The process of adding in genes to organisms to make them the way we want it to be. We can make it look, feel, grow, and taste better. It adds traits that weren't already found in it, making it better!
Better looks Better tastes Better crops Better shelf life Capability to grow on different land More money Resistance to insects
Makes us resistant to antibiotics GMO plants not to breed with natural Allergic and toxic reactions Loss of traits when adding new traits Crops to become invasive or toxic to wildlife
Genetic engineering itself would be hard to stop, as there is another side to the argument. However, the U.S. (and Canada) could start labelling the GMO and non GMO foods, as the rest of the world does. Then, people who are against it could go with the normal foods, and vice-versa
Hope you learnt something today!
