Public, or Private?
A short film by Harrison Hsu
My parents were stuck between sending me to a private school and a public school. They
didn't know which would help me more. The big problem was that I had previously attended a public school
for first grade, and that meant that all of my friends would be going to a public school. However, my parents
thought that the budget cuts were hard on the elementary school I went to, and they found a private school.
If I went to the public school, I would be happy, because my friends all went there. If I went to the private
school, my parents would be happy, because of non-existent budget cuts or similar problems. They believed
that that would be a better experience, while I believed the exact opposite.
The parental units finally decided that private schooling would be best.
I started second grade at a private school. What made me mad was the fact
that I only stayed there for three years. Then, when I went back to the public schools,
I was learning history, or math, or science that I had already learned earlier.
Because of my unusual elementary schooling, I saw the perspectives of different
textbooks, I was taught from different points of view, and most of all, I learned how to adjust.
