How did you attract / address your audience?
What in your magazine tells us what your target audience is / is designed to appeal to them? - Cover
In the magazine that I have created, my front cover is used to attract my target audience because of the male model that I have used to grab their attention. The cover image is of a young male who is 18 years old and the teenage girls would usually pick up the magazine because of a young good looking male featured on the front page and it would be someone that they would want to know eveyrthing about and want to follow him up throughout his music career. I have used cover lines to appeal to my target audience as they have well known pop artists that 16 – 18 year olds would be attracted to like Justin Bieber, as he is a male who has been talked about a lot within the last year and in the beginning of 2015 he is changing the way he acts and has a new Calvin Klein campaign coming out. This would be an interesting article to write about because he is a hot topic and the target audience would be attracted to my magazine because they will want to know more about it. The way that my cover page is layed out is too attract my audience as I have tried to give it a more sophisticated look to it. Pop magazines usually target the younger audience so they look more childish and have there cover lines and images all over the place. The flash that I used was for MAC makeup and this would appeal to my target audience becuase they usually use this brand of makeup and the females tend to take care of the way they look, so this voucher would be designed to appeal to them. I think that my cover page shows who my target audience are as males wouldn't stereotypically buy a pink magazine, with a male on the front page who looks like he creates pop music and wanted to read about gossip and pop music artists like Justin Bieber. This is obvious that it is targeting females, who enjoy listening to pop music because of my cover lines and my masthead CPM stands for chart pop music so it shows the genre of my magazine.
On my contents page it is clear to see that the models that I have used are within the age range that my magazine is targeted too and i have done this to directly appeal to them and show who my target audience are. This will help the target audience to relate to the magazine more because they are within the same age group and will be interested in similar topics. The colour scheme appeals to the target audience because it doesn’t look childish or look like it appeals to a younger audience and the pages link together. The article topics that I have written about are designed to appeal to the target audience as they are about current topics and are about current music that's in the charts. This will keep them up-to-date with everything and it shows that it is aimed at 16-18 year olds because they like to keep in trend. The editorial that I have designed is to appeal to my target audience and it shows what my target audience is because of the informal language that I have used. If I used formal language on my contents page, it would automatically bore my target audience because they wouldn't want to read about things that don't interest them. The formal language is conventionally used in an older magazine or if it was to be in a music magazine, it could be used in classical music magazines because of the target audience the genre appeals to.

On my double page spread you can still see that my magazine is aimed at 16 year old white females because, the main image is of a white male who fits in the genre of pop and the colour scheme would attract females because pink is seen as a feminine colour. I have designed the two pages to appeal to my target audience by having an informal question and answer article so that it interests them and so that they wont get bored and not want to read it. I also made sure that the topic of the article linked with music and so that it would relate to the main image in some way. I had considered which layout to use and how many columns to present so that it was easy for my audience to follow along. The introductory paragraph also shows the clear link to my targeted audience as it mentions the age of the male presented on the cover and this will attract them to the magazine even more, because they are reading about a male who is within their age range and who they would be able to go and listen to at concerts.

Overall, I have attracted my target audience in a variety of ways so that it mainly interests the female target audience of 16 - 18 and I have created my music magazine in a specific way to appeal to them and show who my audience is. The colour scheme, images and the informal context presented within my magazine were all created to attract my audience and persuade them into buying my magazine because I thought that it would appeal to them the most in this way rather than using different images and making my text more formal. The overall product has attracted my audience differently throughout the pages that I have created and they all interlink with eachother in some way or form to make my magazine look more professional.
