In this prezi we will cover:
The gradual process by which heritable biological traits become either more or less common in a population as a function of the effect of inherited traits on the differential reproductive success of organisms interacting with their environment. It is a key mechanism of evolution.
A squirrel was in the park, he wanted to get some food, his large claws allowed him to easily rip into the abondant pine cones nested in the trees. A large storm knocked all of the trees in the park down. Park rangers then came in and planted new smaller splings, all of this resulting in the squirls with big claws dying out.
A squirrel reproduced and all that had the gene mutation for small claws survived, so that they would adabt to the newly changed enviroment.
Evoloution does not occur in genes but in a population throughout time.

Servival of the fittest
A phrase that originated in evolutionary theory as a way of describing the mechanism of natural selection. It is more commonly used today in other contexts, to refer to a supposed greater probability that "fit" as opposed to "unfit" individuals will survive some test.
