When these animals died they decomposed and became buried under think layers of mud, sand, and swamps. During the years that passed they slowly into organic materials and formed fossil fuels. Fossil fuels can be developed more just by digging so far down in the ground. A certian kind of fossil fuels can be developed on a swampy, wetland, this fossil fuel is called coal.
