In this Unit we will cover: Distance Formula
Distance Formula has to do with your rules for rational numbers.
For explain: | a - b| or | -a - b| for a negavetive number make sure you use your rules.
Unit 1 - Write the Unit Title here
you'll get a problem that will probably say how many feet ABOVE or BELOW. then you will know if you said to use your |a-b| formula
Unit 1 - the problem
Explain Problem: James and Makayla are diving down in the ocean. James dived -267 feet below. Makayla only dived -167 feet below the ocean. What's the distance between the two?
Unit 1 - Answerng The Problem
first what you want do is take your formula ( |a-b| ) then take James and Makayla's numbers. James dived -267 while Makayla only dived -167. So now your formula will be |-267 - (-167)|
Book Name here
now remember your rules. since the problem goes like |-267 - (-167)| there's a double negative in the problem, you have to turn it into a positive. you would still subtract the problem, and then keep the sign og the larger number.
now you do it!
i hope this "wideo" taught you all the tricks to Distance Formula. It's after all not that hard to do.
