Why do you identify with Levine's theory of conservation in your role?
"As a cardiac step down nurse patients came to us to recover. Levines theory is one that I found was simple to apply into practice as opposed to many other theories whose concepts are very abstract".
How the nursing theory enhances professional nurses practice
"Nursing theory enhances the profession of nursing because it adds knowledge gained through research and practice or what is referred to as evidence based. Nursing theory can only enhance nursing practice because it adds a whole new level of knowledge that can only enhance practice. Greater knowledge of nursing can only lead to positive things that will be reflective in more positive patient outcomes."
How does theory from other disciplines help promote health and healing?
"We have always heard that nursing is both a science and an art. Nursing theory is borrowing from social science to investigate the art or humanistic side of promoting health and healing through non-traditional medical interventions".
How does nursing theory help to challenge professional and organizational assumptions
Nursing theory is helping make the nursing profession more specialized because it is adding knowledge that will benefit patient outcomes by applying what is gained through the research into practice. It also helps nurses into becoming critical thinkers by addressing questions that are encountered in practice, the nurse becomes a clinician who will investigate the relationship between humans and health.
