Huns Mattson grew up in a little farm in sothern sweeden.
In 1850 he was 17 when he crossed the Alantic to live on the east cost.
At age 20 he had his parents, sister, brother-in law and fellow sweedish imimigrants to MN to find new homes.
They followed the territorial road for the first 4 miles.
After the 4 miles of the trritorial road they only had indian trails to lead them.
In fall of 1853 they clamed land 12 miles W. of Red Wing which later they named Vasa, after a sweetish king.
