WHAT IS CYBERBULLYING?
Cyberbullying is bullying over the internet. It can be through messaging or by putting embarassing or secret things on the internet for all to see.Cyber bullying has been the cause for many deaths and there seems to be no end. We can try to stop but inevitably, there will be one person who will start it all over again.
What are the Side Effects?
Cyber bullying may result in depression, loss in confidence and self esteem,anxiety lost of friends, anger and many more. Depression also can sprout into more things such as eating disorders, cutting or even suicide... People like Amanda Todd are examples of suicide.
How does it start?
Cyber-Bullying may be kickstarted by anger, frustration, revenge or because the bully is "bored." The power hungry may do to justify their standing. A bully victim may do it so they can feel like a tough person. It could also be someone standing up for their friends.
What are some ways for victims to get help?
Victims can go to a parent, friend or trusted adult to tell them what is going on. People who get bullied could also go the kids helpline for advice.
How can we stop Cyber-Bullying?
Step by Step
1.Don't Respond or Retaliate 2. Save the evidence 3. Tell the person to stop 4. Ask for help 5. Use available tech tools e.g. block them
How do you report Cyber-Bullying?
If it's just started you can try block them before it gets any worse. If it is over social media then you can block them because most social media sites contain a blocking feature. If it is over iMessage or by texts, you can still block them but if any bullying message contains threats then you can call law enforcment.
