First U.S. Military Academy Established
The United States Military Academy was basically known as West Point. The academy was the first military school of the United States.

British Takes over
Patriot General Benedict Arnold, agreed to surrender West Point. But, the plot was uncovered, and fell in the hands of the British
10 years after the establishment, many great wars occured and gradually expanded the academy facilities.
In 1870, the first African-American soldier was trained at West Point. In 1976 the first female soldier was trained. Today the academy is under general direction and supervision of the department of the U.S.
