Eli Whitney invented the Cotton Gin in 1973. The Cotton Gin was invented to decrease slavery in the united states, but increased slavery and strengthen the production of cotton.
Thomas Edison was born on Febuary 11, 1847 and died on October 18, 1931. He developed many devices that improved life all around the world.Edison developed a system of eletric-power generation and distribution. Edison is the fourth most creative inventor in history.
Orville and Wilbur Wright
Orville was born on August 19,1871 and died on January 30, 1948. Wilbur was born on April 16,1867 and died on May 30, 1912. They were the fiest successful inventors of the airplane. The Wright Brothers were the first to invent aircraft controls that made fixed-wing powered flight possible.
Karl Marx was a German pholosopher , economist, sociologist, historian, journalist, and revolutionary socialist. He was also a author who wrote a lot of books. His most notable book was The Communist Manifesto written in 1848.
Charles Darwin was born on Feburary 12, 1809 and died on April 19, 1882 at the age of 73. He is best known for evelution theory. By the 1970's the scientific community aceepted the evelution theory as a fact. His studies at the university of cambridge ecouraged his passion for natural science.
Abraham Darby was born on April 14,1678 and died on march 8, 1717. He was in ans english Quaker family that played a role in the Industrial Revolution. He developed a method of producing pig iron in a blast furnace fuelled by coke rather than charcoal. This was a major step foward in the production of iron as a raw material for the Industrial Revolution.
A Steam Engine is an egine that uses steam as its fuel to preform mechanical work. Engines that uses steam as its fuel goes back 2000 years but early devices didnt work as well. The stationary Steam Engine played an important role in the industrial revelution. It provided power where power wasnt available. James Watt patented a steam engine that produced continuous rotations.
The Spinning Jenny is a multi-spindle spinning frame. It was invented by James Hargreaves in England. This Machine reduced the amount of work needed to produce the yarn. A single worker will be able to work eight machines at once.
A Power Loom is a mechanised loom powered by a line shaft. The first power loom was designed in 1784 by Edmund Cartwright and the first built in 1785. Fifty years later came the Northrop Loom that would replenish the shuttle when it was empty and this replaced the Lancashire Loom.
Telegraphs started in 1792 in the form of semaphore lines, or optical telegraphs, that sent messages to a distant observer through line-of-sight signals. Commercial electrical telegraphs were introduced from 1837. This invention was made to communicate to people who are not next or close to you.
Urbanization in the 1800's
Urbanization was caused by great inventions in agriculture, such as the tractor. This put many farm hands out of jobs. They then moved to cities to work in factories.
Labor Unions are legally recongnized as representatives of workers in many industries. Their activity centers on collective bargaining over wages, benefits, and working conditions.
Socialist movement to create classes upon common worshipof the means of production. A social, political, and economic idelogy that aims at the establishment of this social order.
Enclosure Movement - 18th century movement among wealthy British landed aristocrats to rationalize their farms. Using new farming technology and systems of crop rotation, they forced the agrarian poor off the old "village commons" that now became "enclosed" as private property. The jobless poor ended up constituting the proletariat working class in the upcoming Industrial Revolution.
