In 1888 a terrible Blizzard hit New York City and nearly destroyed it.
New York was completly damaged and it costed hundreds and millions of lifes.
New York was icsolated from the rest of the country during the extreme weather. The blizzard also hit New England but New York was the hardest. There was 40 inches of snow and it lasted for 36 hours.
In New York and in Conneticut there was a figure named "Leather Man". They say that he would walk the streets and sleep in caves during the Blizzard. The reason why they named him Leather Man was because his clothes were patches of leather.
