In this Unit we will cover: Photosystems! :D
What is a Photosystem?
A mechanism in plants by which chlorophyls absorb light energy for photosynthesis!!
How does it work?
Light energy is absorbed by chlorophyls. This energy is transferred betweeen chlorophyls until it reaches the reaction center!
The reaction center!
The electrons in the special pair of chlorophyl are excited to a higher energy state!
Two Types of Photosystems!
Photosystem I - Electrons from transport chain Photosystem II -Electrons from water
Excited electrons are then transfered to electron carriers: 1. Plastoquinone 2. Ferrodoxin They are then used to synthesize energy used to carrry out photosynthesis!
What happens next?
Thank you for watching! :D
