Today you will learn how to factor equations!!
The equations that you could factor can look like' this.... x2+6x+8 or x2+8x+12 but you solve them all the same way.
How to factor
x2+6x+8 The last number is 8 in this equation. multiples of 8 are 1,2,4,8.
How to start
The first thing you would do when you see an equation is find multiples of the last number.
The next step
So the multiples are 1,2,4,8 and now you have to find which numbers eqaul 6 together. 1+8=9 so that doesn't work. 2+4=6, that does work!
How to write the equation
x2+6x+8 The first thing you would do is make 4 parenthesses. ( )( ) Now you add the x to each since it is squared. (x )(x ) since 6x and 8 are both positive you would add plus signs (x+ )(x+ ) You know the 2 multiples are 2 and 4 so you would add those in. (x+2)(x+4)
Congratulations! You Know How to Factor
