hello my name is Plato i was a philosopher in the days of ancient Greece
In 403 bc when i was 24 there were certain laws that were past. These were called the 12 table here are a few:
Z Z Z...Z
Should a tree on a neighbour's farm be bend crooked by the wind and lean over your farm, you may take legal action for removal of that tree.
Z Z Z...Z
A dead man shall not be buried or burned within the city.
Z Z Z... Z
No person shall hold meetings by night in the city.
I was a student of Socrates. i was mostly influenced by Pythagoras, i was convinced that geometry was the key to unlocking the secrets of the universe.
what influenced plato?
Socrates explained that he had no interest to engage in politics, because a certain divine sign told him that he was to foster a just and noble lifestyle within the young men of Athens. He did this in casual conversations with whomever he happened to meet on the streets. When Socrates told the court that if set free, he would not stop this practice, claiming that he must follow the voice of his god over the dictates of the state, the court found him guilty (though by a narrow margin). He was punished to death. This final sequence of events must have weighed heavily on Plato, who then turned away from politics bored of the unjust behavior of the Thirty, disappointed by the follies of the democracy, and forever affected by the execution of Socrates.
Philosophical and scientific ideas
Socrates began to feel an urge to think about the world around
him, and try to answer some difficult questions. He asked
"What is wisdom?" and "What is beauty?" and "What is the
right thing to do?" He knew that these questions were hard to
answer, and he thought it would be better to have a lot of
people discuss the answers together, so that they might come
up with more ideas, these ideas influenced me?s forms.
what is beauty ?
Plato was born into a wealthy family of politicians, he had two older brothers Glaucon and Adeimantus, and a sister, Potone.
