Fun fact about Northcare: Everything from the food the families get to munch on to the quilts that are placed on beds for patients is donated from the community.
I did my community service through NorthCare Hospice at the North Kansas City Hospital and served over 15 older adults that were submitted into hospice care.

I learned that this generation of adults have experienced and seen things throughout their life that I could never imagine. Knowing this has opened my eyes to respect them a lot more than I originally did.
Service learning has allowed me to gain a whole new perspective on older adults. I got the opportunity to sit with adults who are near the end of life and provide them company.
Before this project I had hardly any experience with older adults. Now that I've had interactions with patients and even older volunteers I feel like my knowledge and perception of them has grown immensely in a positive way!
