Looking back at your preliminary task, what have you learnt?
What was the preliminary task set?
The preliminary task set was to get into groups of 3 or 4 people and then make a short video of a genre of your choice and we had to make sure we used a wide range of shots and kept to the rule of continuity. This was the second part of group work we had done as we did an Oceans 11 task before which helped us to get used to working in a group and be familiar with the roles we thought we were suited to.
Using the 180 degree rule and different shot types really helped me to understand the ins and outs of the camera and also how it helped when getting to the editing stage as it really made the whole thing come together.
I was the cameraman for both my thriller opening and the prelim! Before this I had never really used a video recorder properly. So by filming both I really became familiar with the different shot types and how to entail them into the scenes.
Once I started to understand Final Cut Pro I really enjoyed using it. I found it interesting how you could change the whole look of the video by just one simple click and I thought it was a really good, simple way of editing out Prelim and thriller opening. Although it was simple to use it really changed the whole look of both videos
I had never before used Final Cut Pro and was introduced to it when starting media as an AS level. At first I found it quite difficult to get the hang of, however after using it and getting the hang of it I started to really enjoy using it.
How did your prelim help with the final procuct?
The preliminary task really helped to produce a final product that me and my group were happy with. This is because the skills we learnt when editing and filming our prelim helped with the final product as we knew the best ways of how to edit the video and how we could make it different. The filming helped because we were about to understand the different shots and how they worked to help change the look of the video.
BYE AND THANK YOU FOR WATCHING!
