All about my life as a...
Day in the life!
Hello! My name is Marissa and I graduated from Liberty Unniversity which is located in Virginia.
I majored in Science and Nursing.
I work at Yale New Haven Hospital.
I had to take a licensing exam, a.k.a board exams. Getting the job at Yale was one of the most difficult things that I ever had to do, but luckily nurses are in high demand.
My annual pay is $95,000. I'm very dedicated to my job I wouldn't change anything about it. To advance in the medical career you would need to go back to school.
My typical work hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. During the course of my day I can see anywhere from 20 to 25 patients. I work about four days a week.
Many of the deadlines that are in my work day have to do with labs I need to call my patients back to inform them if they have healthy levels or if I am concerned with their health. Once I get into work I start to see my first patients of the day. Some of them come for follow ups and some for just regular physicals. Whenever I have some spare time because a patient is late I review labs and notify my patients of their health condition. My stress level varies from day to day depending on the type of situations that I get. My stress is most high when I have to diagnose someone with a sickness. That is always the worst part of my job.
My responsibilities are to make sure my patients are happy and healthy. I do my best to notify my patients when something is wrong with them. I need to check on multiple patients a day and each and every one of them are different from each other. My goal is to make them comfortable with me because going to the doctors is not an easy thing for some people.
