Shawn the Clueless Stabber
California goal for juvenile is rehabilitation. A minor can be at least 14 and tried as an adult but its up to the judge to decide and if the the minor committed murder or any sex offense.

On Christmas night in Los Alto, California, Shawn attacked his father in his sleep by stabbing him mutiple of times in the arm, neck and head with a knife.
His father claims he couldnt see who the attacker was and then he saw it his son, Shawn. They went to the hospital and the police appoached Shawn saying that if his dad dies he will be charged with murder but if he lives he will be charged with attempted murder. However did not remeber what happened.
Shawn was charged with attempted murder, if trailed in adult court he will face 15 years to life. Shawn plead guilty from juvenile court. Shawn remain in the Santa Clara County's Juvenile Hall until he turns 19. In addition,Shawn would be allowed to leave the facility during the day to attend community college classes, private counseling sessions, and Narcotics Anonymous meetings. Eventually he was even allowed to go home for meals with his family.
