The Four Spheres of The Earth
The four spheres of earth come from the Greek language. "Geo" for
geosphere (ground), "Hydro" for hydrosphere (water),
"Bio" for biosphere (life) and "Atmo" for atmosphere (air).
All four spheres work together to support life on earth
The geosphere is made out of rocks, minerals and soil. They support the growth
of plants. The geopshere is important because it defines the enviornment
we live in, distributes minerals, and controls the continent and landform
What is the Geosphere?
The hydropshere is the water section of earth. Made up of oceans,
lakes, seas, ponds, rivers and streams. Water covers 70 % of earths
surface. Since earth is mostly covered in water the hydrosphere plays a huge
part in sustaining life on earth.
What does the Hydrosphere do?
What would happen if there was no Hydrosphere?
If there was no Hydropsphere there would be no life whatsoever on Earth.
We all need water to survive. Plants, animals and all life
in the Biosphere. If there was no Hydrosphere there would be no Biosphere.
What does the Biosphere do?
The Biosphere is very important because it sustains life. Without the
Biosphere Earth would be as lifeless as Mars. What makes the
Biosphere so unique is that there has been no existence of life elsewhere in the
universe besides earth.
from the sun, keeps us warm, gives us weather, provides carbon dioxide for plants, and
It provides us with oxygen to breathe to keep our bodies working. Protects us from radiation
protects us from objects coming from outer space. The atmosphere protects earth in many ways.
What is in the Atmosphere?
78 % Nitrogen. 21 % oxygen. 1% other gases
