Medieval castles or fortresses in Europe were built around the 1100's to the 1500's. Castles during the middle ages were built as a fortified home for the monarchs.
What are Medieval Castles
During much of the middle ages, Europe was divided into lords and princes.They both rule the local land. Therefore, these huge buildings were not only used for defending enemies but also for the power of the monarchy.

Medieval castles during the middle ages had very harsh life but compared to other people they had a luxury life. They had all the comfort they wanted. Generally, monarchs begin their day by a guard who trumpets.
What events happened in castles?
Castles in the medieval times were made out of many materials. Stones,bricks,wood would most probably be used for making thick walls and they had hay rooftops.
What were castles made of?
