E-Waste is a serious problem that needs to be fixed
E-Waste is the electronic items that have reached the end of their useful life
What is E-Waste
All this electronic dumped is damaging out beautiful planet
Some short facts
Australians are one of the largest users of technology, which in turn means E-waste is one of the fastest growing types of waste. 99% of households have a T.V however 55% have a second T.V The amount of T.V?s and computers reaching the end of their useful life is expected to reach about 181, 000 tonnes or 44 million units by 2027-28. Australians purchase more than 4 million computers and 3 million T.V?s a year. If 75% of the 1.5 million T.V?s throw away were recycled there would be savings of 23, 000 tonnes of Co2 equivalents, 520 mega liters, 400, 000 gigaloules of energy and 160,000 cubic meters of landfill space.
Why recycle E-Waste
E-Waste contains non-renewable items that if taken to the landfill they are lost forever, some these items/materials are: Copper, Nickel, Tin, Zinc and Aluminium. E-Waste also contains dangerous materials such as Lead, Mercury, Cadmium and Lithium but sending this to landfill may mean it could leak into the environment. So recycleing E-waste will prevent this.
You can prevent this all if you put your non used electronics in a E-Waste bin or you could take your E-Waste to an E-Waste desposel center.
