John was born on January 11,1815, in Scotland. At the beginning of his life, he was a fighter in the 1837 Rebellions. He then became a lawyer by profession. John A., actually defended some of the people he fought against in the Rebellions. John was the main Father of Confederation. He wrote the BNA Act with his good friend George Etienne Cartier. Was the first Prime Minister of Canada, and held the post for 19 years.
Who is John A Macdonald
John A MacDonald helped bring together Ontario, Quebec Nova scotia and New Brunswick together in 1867. Soon afterwards, he brought BC, PEI and Northwest Territorties into Confederation. He is also responsible for all of Canada's provinces and territories joining Confederation, except for Newfoundland and Labrador, and Nunavut. Another acomplishment was that he made the Canadien pacific railroad, from B.C. to Quebec, that even reaches down to USA. He also made sure that Canada would have ties with Britain for centuries.
What would have happened if he was not alive
Canada wouldn't be independent, because Confederation wouldn't happen. There wouldn't be any Conservative Party of Canada. The BNA might not have passed because he argued about it in England. The Canadian Pacific railroad wouldn't have existed, because he spearheaded it, because he wanted BC to join Canada. America would have annexed Canada, because no provinces could stand up to an invasion. He put together most of Canada, directly and indirectly
John A MacDonald did exist however. His existence was the main thing, that put Canada in the right path. He was the Father of Canada, and thanks to him, USA didn't annex Canada. All of the independent regions that were scattered all over what is now Canada, were joined together by him. All our citizens owe him their independance and their religion, or the United States would take away people's rights. There would be no conservatism in Canada, and Canada would be a haven for socialist ideals. The last thing is the CPR, which joined Canada for the better.
His Dreadful Death
John A Macdonald died in the year 1891, in the month of June 6 1891. He was one of the best Prime Ministers of Canada. His death left much sorrow for Canada, but he left our country strong and united.
