Dred Scott v. Sandford Decision,1857
Dred Scott was born as a slave in Virgina then was taken into a free state. He sued for his freedom because he has lived were slavery was not welcomed
In 1850 he went to court in Missouri and "ruled in Scott's favor'' he owner did not like that so he appealed the decision the higher courts send Scott and is wife to their onwers
John Brown led a raid at Harper Ferry in Virginia he hope to encourage an uprising of enslaves people he was then captured tried,convicted,and hanged in the North he was a hero in the North.
