Broken into what FDR called the 3 R's.
Relief, Recovery, and Reform
The 3 R's - Relief
Relief provided federal payment to Americans who didn't have a job,
So they'd have money to spend on food and shelter
The 3 R's - Recovery
Recovery programs were designed to put people to work. This included the WAP (Works Progress Administration)
The WAP put people to work. They built things such as bridges and roads, schools, etc. They even hired writers, photographers, artist, and musicians!
The 3 R's - Reform
A package of legislation that was designed to stableize the American Economy
Some reforms that came from the newdral are still important today!
Some Reforms that still continue today are:
*Securities and exchange commision *Social Security (To make sure the elderly have a little money after retirement) *FDIC (Federal Deposite Insurence Corperation) (It backs up American banks, so if there's a banking collapes, you don't lose your savings account.)
So who did The New Deal actually help?
Mainly middle class white males, who gotjobs in extended government bureaucracy created by the New Deal. But it also helped farmers too as they had a demand for their produce and their products couldn't be bought lower than the "offical price".
