Part Three: Japan Literature
~ Literature in Japanese history flourished at the start of the 1800s. ~ Japanese used the Chinese writing system until the 9th century. ~ During the 9th century, they developed their own form of alphabet called “Kana”.
~ Calligraphy in Japan started in the 600s and had three common styles:
~ Sysho: Cursive Style
~ Gyosho: Semi Cursive Style
~ Kaisho: Square Style
~ Japanese often wrote poems such as Kojiki or Haikus ~ One of the first novels written in Japan were by Lady Murasaki Shikibu
