Everyday millions of people take antibiotics
But some people misuse the medicine and it can get out of control
In an organsism there are bacterias, that are both good and bad, also known as Pathogens
But that's not the only bacteria these antibiotics are killing off....
When we take antibiotics we want them to kill off these bad bacterias
Bacterias can also become resistant to antibiotics as they have variations
The resistant bacteria then survive the antibiotics, and since the surviving bacterias have no competition they reproduce rapidly
Their offspring will have the resistant gene and will be able to survive.
If we keep going ourselves antibiotics, the bacteria wii be able to keep mutating since they being selected for the environment that they live in.
We recommend doctors to encourage patients to take antibiotics until their prescribed time is complete.
This natural selection that occurs in bacterias occurs in every living organism For example, butterflies have variations in color, that can help them survive.
The brown butterflies are most likely to survive since they can camaflauge with the bark, meanwhile the yellow butterflies will be eaten since they cannot adapt to the envrionment.
A population of yellow butterflies that contains some variations of brown butterfly live in the forest, where the tree bark is brown.
Brown will then pass on their genes and create a new generation
