Dredd Scott v. Sanford
The Dredd Scott case was a case that set the fate for him and his family.
The case caused the Civil war by 1) not allowing any African American become a citizen, unless you file a suit.
2) No states can ban slavery since the Missouri Compromise is declared unconstitutional.
3) Cannot free slaves that were brought into federal territories.
Other acts that helped lead up to the Civil War were, Fugitive Slave Act, John Browns Raid, The Elcetion of Lincoln and many more.
Dredd Scott was declared a free man since he won the case against Sanford in 1857,
