Hydroelectric power is used to power homes and businesses. It is also used to power manufacturing plants, which reduces the amount of pollution those plants emit. Engineers are currently working on a water powered car, so in a few years we could be driving around in cars powered by hydroelctricity.
Advantages to using hydroeletric power
One of the adavantages of using hydroelectric power is that little fuel is burned. There is no fuel burned so there is little pollution emited from using hydroelectric power. Hydroelectric power also helps reduce green house gas emissions becuse there is little pollution. Another adavantage is that maintenece and working costs of hydroelectric power are relatively power. The last advantage to using hydroelectric power is that the technology is reliable and will not break down and not work.
Disadvantages to using hydroelectric power
One of the disadvantages to using this renewable resource is the high investment costs. The high investment cost of hydroeletic power scares many business owners and plant owners away. This resource also is hydrology dependent, which means it can only be used in areas that get a lot of rain. This resource should not be used in areas that are used to droughts. The last disadvantage of using hydroelectric power is that it disrupts wildlife and their habitats.

An individual couldn't really use this resource because it is a resource used by factory owners and by the government . An idividual person wouldn't find much use in hydroelectric power.

Hoover Dam 1937: The Hoover Dam begins to generate power on the Colorado River. 1941-1945: Bureau of Reclamation dams ramped up power output to support America’s efforts in World War II, producing enough electricity to make 69,000 airplanes and 5,000 ships and tanks during a five year period. 1980: Conventional hydropower capacity is nearly triple compared with 1920 level.

This resource could be devolped more in areas by waterfalls and rivers where you could have access to a lot of water. You could also develop this resource more oin areas near dams where you also have access to a lot of water.
Argument for increasing hydroelectric power usage
We should increase this resource because it is a clean, renewable energy that pollutes very little and is very low cost to operate and to maintain the machine. You might say that it is hard to develop because you need a lot of water or that it is high cost to start it. We need to develop hydroelectric power more in areas where there are rivers, dams, or waterfalls becaus we could use the flowing water to power surrounding towns and businesses. The start up cost is high, but you would save money down the line beacsue the maintainence and working costs for hydroelectric power is preety low. You should invest in hydroelectric power because it is a renewble source and it will help reduce the pollution in the air and will help make sure the world dosen't run out of sources for energy.
