The Steam was invented in in 1679 by Thomas Savery. It worked by using a shut vessel filled with water ,where steam under pressure created a vaccum and sucked water from flooded coal mines.
The First Steam powered boat was invented in 1763 by Marquis Claude de Jouffroy and some of his friends. It worked by heating water until the Steam Pressure was high, then released into the driving mechanisim
