In the one of the biggest themes is the struggle for leadership. The author used Jack and Ralph to represent different types of leaders. Jack was the leader who wanted power and chaos, Ralph was the leader who wanted things to be orderly. The conch represented order and law, and Ralph usually using the conch to call up others in the book.

Piggy is always with Ralph and Piggy represented logic and innocence. It could also represented, a good leader like Ralph, needs logic. As well as Piggy's glasses is also represented logic. Ralph talked about the fire mostly in the book, the fire could represent hope. A good leader should let his follower seeing the hope.
As piggy dead, Ralph lost the part of logic as a leader And he began to run off from Jack because Jack would kill him and getting more power. . In the end of the book, Ralph did not want to admit that he knew about the group of painted boys.
The conch broken, the rule within the boys also broekn
In page 201, there is a plot, "The officer turned back to Ralph. 'We'll take you off. How many of you are there?' Ralph shook his head. The officer looked past him to the group of painted boys. 'Who's boss here?' 'I am,' said Ralph loudly."
Jack wanted to hunt all the time, and didn't really care about the rescue, that is the emotion of Jack. In addition, hunting could represent destruction and chaos.
However, Jack getting the power via the chaos and destruction inside of the littluns. Jack gave some food to the head of pig, it could representing he is convincing other to listening to him because the littluns would thought follow Jack have visible benefit, which is the food and fun (dancing and hunting), as well as not need to afraid of the "beast", because Jack said he would kill it.
In the beginning of the book, the main leader was Ralph. However, as the plot developed that the arrogant inside Jack pushed his chaos and destruction to appear. And then the emotion of wanting to be leader pushed him to against Ralph. As the fun and chaos keep going, Jack become painted and wanted to kill Ralph.
In page 126, Jack said " He's not a hunter. He'd never have got us meat. He isn't a prefect and we don't know anything about him. He just gives orders and expects people to obey for nothing. All this talk---"
