Q4: How did you use Media technology in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages?
I have used a various range of Media technology in different stages of my coursework. For example, during the planning and research tasks, I used Surveymonkey to collect target audience’s opinions about Soap Opera’s, as the ‘audiences have the greatest power’ (Dugdale - 2006). I have created a Surveymonkey survey consisting of 6 Questions, related to gaining information about what their requirements for a new Soap Opera, who they think Soap Operas appeal to the most, as well as conventions and themes of Soap Operas that they are familiar with. For example, one of the questions stated: ‘What do you think of gender roles in Soap Operas? Are they stereotypical?’. The website allowed me to view all the answers to this question at once, so I was able to summarise and compare the results very easily. The questions included ticking answers (such as choosing a gender), comment boxes, and numbering choices in the order of importance. This piece of online website helped me to gather a range of relevant information, using hyperlinks to the survey sent to respondents through their email addresses. It was particularly useful that every time somebody answered my survey, an email was sent to me from the website. This was good because it reduced time in which I had to check my survey, and that I was able to note the end of the survey when all my respondents have answered it.
