It's almost Halloween, but the students must finish their presentations before trick or treating.
My project focuses on the different plant hormons, and their effect on the plant
Cytokinin: this plant hormone inhibits stem growth and delays senescence (aging) in leaves. It also causes the lateral swelling of stems and roots. It stimulates axillary buds to grow into branches. It induces proliferation of cultured plant cells (increased number of shoots).
Ethylene: inhibits stem growth, and ripens fruit. Ethylene gas promotes leaf abscission and senescence (aging). As ethylene production increases, more ethylene is produced. It is used to ripen stored produce before it's sold. Asymmetrical production of ethylene maintains the apical hook of eudicot seedlings by inhibiting the elongation of cells on the inner surface.
