Locations used in our thriller 'Disarray'
My group and I had to carefully think through which locations we thought were the most suitable for each scene and I think we've done a very good job!
LOCATION 1: Phoebe's bedroom
My group and I decided that it would be best for the opening scene to be set in Phoebe's bedroom as this instantly makes her conform to the stereotype of a teenage girl spending a lot of time in her room. This allows the audience to recognise that she's young. Moreover, it is hinted that something is not quite right due to the messy covers.
LOCATION 2: School
We chose to film a scene at school in order to establish the young age of the girls and show that they are just ordinary teenagers who should be focusing on their studies but they seem to have other things on their mind like many other teens.
LOCATION 3: House/Living room
This location was perfect for the house party as we managed to fit a lot people in the shot and they were all sat around the table, which also allowed the drugs to be present in the shot.
LOCATION 4: Kitchen
We thought it would be a good idea to hava a scene in the kitchen in order to show that Phoebe is oblivious to what has happened and is just getting on with her day as normal. However, the bottle is the trigger of a flashback.
LOCATION 5: Alleyway
My group and I chose this location because this is one that is typical in thrillers. The dark lighting creates an uncanny and mysterious atmosphere, foreshadowing that something bad is going to happen.
LOCATION 6: Outside house
Our final location was outside, which we thought worked really well as the camera slowly moved upwards to reveal the name of our film. Coincidentally, there was a police car driving past nearby, which we were very pleased about as we used this naturalistic sound in our actual film and it gave this scene a sense of danger and hinted there was something wrong, making it mysterious.
