How does English get new words
One way words enter into the Engilsh language is from an etymologist.
An etymologist is someone who studies etymology, and etymology is....

Another way English gets new words is by borrowing from other languages.
Many of English words come from foreign language, mainly from Latin and Greek.
English also gets new words by Shortening or Clipping.
Clipping is when, you take a chunk of a word off, leaving a stump word. This is called back-clipping.
For example, take the word gymnasium, it was shortend to gym.
