There were all of these great people living in the vast land known as The New World. They lived happily.
There was a group of people across a large ocean that ruled over them. They were called both Brittish soldiers and redcoats. Their ruler known as King George III, became very paranoid when his colonies wanted more freedom.
The king sent an army of soldiers to the 13 colonies he established, to keep order and watch out for rebels.
This angered the colonists even more. They were forced to home these soldiers due to what is called the Quartering Act, meaning all colonists have to give the soldiers sleeping and staying quarters. This was one of the many acts that caused them to revolt against Brittain.
In response, the colonists dressed in disguises, and sneaked down to the harbors, and dumped 3 entire ships full of tea into the harbor. They refused to allow these intolerable acts.
One night, as Brittish soldiers approached, a man by the name of Paul Revere rode his horse around Boston, alerting the American Soldiers.
After many years of battling and blood shed, on September 3, 1783, Brittain declared America a free country by signing the treaty of Paris, thus ending The American Revolution.
