My name is Caitlyn and I am an Actuary.
My job includes a lot of traveling visiting clients and other colleagues. There is little about my work that stays the same for a long period of time.
I work for Equitable Life Insurance of Canada. I went to The University of Rhode Island for applied mathematics with actuarial track. I had to pass the P/1 exam which required me studying for more than 300 hours.
Describe here your tertiary education, degrees and any other course description you wish to include.
Getting the Job
I got my job pretty easily since I did a lot of internships and got my bachelor's degree in mathematics and physics. I get $250,000 a year but get a higher amount of money each year.
Although there is no typical day. My day is usually spent managing staff to review financial data, answering questions from non-actuarial parties about actuarial concepts, and attending meetings to discuss the results and future of the business.
I work about 8 hours a day but it changes depending on what im doing. Thankfully the stress of being an actuary isn't very high.
