What is a Supernova?
I just read about this! Let me tell you!
A Supernova is a SUPER bright explosion of a star.
How does a star turn into a Supernova?
There are actually TWO ways a star can become a Supernova.
When massive stars are unable to give out anymore energy, they begin to collaspe at their core, and then explode!
When a massive star sucks in material from a nearby star. The star becomes SO hot, it explodes.
What happens to a Supernova after it explodes?
I can tell you!
After a Supernova explodes it either becomes a Neutron Star or a Black Hole.
A Neutron Star is formed from the remaining core of the exploded massive star. This star is extremely dense and spins very fast. If the remaining core from the exploded massive star is bigger than a Neutron Star, the remaining core turns into a black hole.
A black hole is a region of space where gravity has become SO strong that nothing can escape, not even light!
WOW! How often does a Supernova occur?
I just happen to know!
A Supernova occurs once every 100 years or so.
YAY! I've learned so much about a Supernova. I can't wait to tell everyone I know what've learned!
