TRADITIONAL ITALIAN INSTRUMENTS:
Piva:The piva is a type of bagpipe played in Italy and the Italian-speaking areas of Switzerland, such as Ticino.
The Jew's harp:The tongue/reed is placed in the performer's mouth and plucked with the finger to produce a note.
The Ceterone:The Ceterone (Italian), is similar to a lute. As well as a Mandolin which is another instrument from Italy.
The triccaballacca :The triccaballacca is a percussion instrument used in folk music throughout much of southern Italy. Technically, it is a "clapper" and consists of three percussive mallets mounted on a base.
Italy has played a significant role in the history of European music. Many music instruments such as the violin and piano were invented in Italy. The musical scale, the art of opera and many music terms, were also born in Italy and many of the existing European classical music forms were formed in Italy 16/17 century music (such as the symphony, concerto, and sonata). These terms have strongly influenced Europe and enabled opera in the late 1500s. Folk music has always been a traditional way in Italy to express local identity, and address cultural, political and social issues.As you can see music is a big part of Italy.

Italian vocal music is brought to life especially through the expressivity given to the vowels. Performers of Italian folk music use old-fashioned instruments like simple flutes and even a bagpipe-like instrument called the Piva. Opera is a big part of Italian music, and it is recognized as part of Italy and more over acknowledged as the greatest form of classical singing around the world.Also opera can instantaneously make you think of Italy, as it is a big part of music and is representative of their culture. In their music a theme of romance and melody is always prevalent.
