Americans' perception of the news media has declined since the mid 1980's.
80% of Americans believe the news media is often influenced by people or organizations with power. It was only 53% in 1985.
Republicans tend to be the most critical.
76% of Republicans vs. 54% of Democrats feel that news stories are politically biased.
63% of people feel that reporting is politically biased. That's an 18% increase over the past 26 years.
Local and national news organizations were the most trusted sources of information.
Congress and candidates running for office are the least trusted.
